5 Tips To Improve Your Sleep

In the present world, each of us has so many tasks, commitments, and challenges on a daily basis. Stressful life affects the quality of our sleep tremendously. In this article we will share with you 5 ways to achieve perfect sleep:

No digital devices one hour before you want to go to bed.

Checking social networks, emails, messages make our brain work and we want it to calm down at this time. Spend this hour for cleaning home, reading a book, talking to your family or doing some beauty procedures.

• Avoid eating heavy food or drinking coffee in the evening.

Caffeine is the stimulant that will keep you awake. And regarding food, if you have a heavy stomach, you will hardly be able to sleep well. Some light salad and herbal tea would be a perfect option for dinner.

• Take at least short, 20 min walk in the evening.

Fresh air is an essential part of good sleep. Apart from this, it helps to refresh the mind. I personally feel burnt out if I stay inside the whole day long. Just put sport shoes and walk a bit for 20 or 30 min. Trust me on that, you will sleep much better afterward.

• Exercise regularly.

Exercise will help you to fall asleep faster as long as it’s done in the morning or at least 3 hours before you go to sleep. It should be an essential part of life if you have stressful work as well.

• Create a perfect sleep environment.

You sleep environment drastically impacts your health. Make sure that light is switched off while you are sleeping. Get your bedroom as dark as possible. The presence of blue light can also disrupt sleep, that’s why I recommend to switch off all technical devices including WIFI or move them to another room. Make sure that the temperature in the room is comfortable for you and there is enough fresh air. Putting green plants in the room and buying air purifiers is a great decision. I personally put fried lava see flowers inside my pillow, it helps me to get more relaxed.

We talk more about this topic in our new “7 Days to Love Waking Up at 6 am”  Course.

Breathing Yoga – Breath is Life

Prana / breath is the life giving force that is responsible for how you exist on the planet today. Focusing on it can truly change your life as it alters your thought process & ultimately your life for the better. If you’re a yoga practitioner, you will likely have experienced a class ending or beginning with a focus on breath and setting an intention for the class. To those who don’t believe in the undulating power of breath & this step in a practice it may not mean much, but to do those who believe, breathing is the ultimate beauty & mental health elixir. When you take 20 minutes out of your sacred time and dedicate it to breathing regularly you will see a remarkable difference in how you do you. Try it once at least to agree or to disagree.

Breathing yoga – Pranayama increases your immunity, calms your mind and is associated with mental wellness too. It also helps clear out Chakra imbalances by releasing energy blockages in the body. It also helped me with my digestive system & has given me great skin in the process too as it corrects any imbalances in your body from an Ayurvedic perspective. You will get rid of stress and anxiety and will feel all round calm no matter what the external situation is. I kid you not you feel positive about life & if combined with asana practice you get a sense of stillness that is incomparable to most workouts for me.

Breathe In & Let go

The practices may be strange if you are new to yoga, however, with a little practice you will get used to it. Remember to sit in a comfy seated posture for this. Perhaps a chair if cross-legged doesn’t work for you. Here’s a list of my favourite asanas and how I incorporate them into my life:

  1. Kapalbhati Breathing – Kapalbhati is an asana that was reignited in India by a famous Yogi Baba Ramadeva. No matter how hairy he looks he reminded us of how great Yoga is and what it can do yet as I have travelled outside India I find non-Indian practitioners do better than us. Perhaps we simply don’t appreciate what we were born into or may be it’s just a case of preferring a different workout, each to their own I guess. This type of breathing involves short & forceful exhalations. Take a deep breath and follow it with forceful and quick exhalations, as many as you can do without getting dizzy. For detailed flow watch Yoga By Adrienne on Youtube. Tip: I usually start my morning with this on empty stomach and time it for 5 minutes.
  2. Anulom Vilom / Alternate Nostril Breathing – Fold three fingers on your right hand or left and use your pinkie & thumb to do the work. a) Place thumb on right nostril breath in through left b) Block left nostril with ring finger, simultaneously release thumb, & exhale c) Inhale through right & release through left d) Switch fingers and continue alternative nostril breathing Complicated when I say it so check out this video by Yoga by Adrienne. Tip: I follow it up with Kapalbhati and continue for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Bhramari / Bee BreathBee Breath is so cool and mind-blowing for me. Sit in your comfy posture and place your four fingers on your forehead / eyes ensuring eyes are covered. Place your thumb in your ears and take a deep breath in & exhaling making an Mish sound. It’s like saying the last part of Om = mmmmmmmmm. Repeat three times and done. When you do this you sound like a bee & once I come back to normal I will super relaxed for some reason that I don’t know of yet. Tip: This is step 3 of my morning practice. Usually will not take longer than 2-3 minutes.
  4. Deep focused breaths & meditation – Just do some slow & steady breaths before floating in to a good spot of meditation. I leave the remaining time for a quick meditation from the app Insight Timer.

Have you tried breathing yoga? Want to give me some tips & tricks? Comment below or email or think of me and I’ll know..wink wink..Until next post. xo

How to Lose Weight Without Dieting?

All of us want to be in a good shape, but sometimes things go out of control and we gain extra weight. I personally don’t like the word “diet” because it makes me stressed. It makes my mind feel that I need to limit myself with eating most of the things.  Apart from this big limitation it also causes a yo-yo effect afterwards. You will likely return to your old eating pattern and along with it the weight will resurface.

That’s why in this article I will not advice you to start following a diet. I will actually suggest you how to make light changes in your lifestyle in order to get a healthier body and loose extra weight:

  1. Don’t eat sugar and fruits in the evening

I remember, once I realized that within the past 6 months I had added 7 kilos, I immediately cancelled fast food and went to the gym. And after 3 weeks of trial my weight just didn’t move anywhere. So I called my friend who is a nutritionist, explained to her the situation and she gave me a simple advice not to eat any kind of sugar, even the one which is in fruits in the evening. This advice worked for me really well! I just put a rule for myself, that I can eat something sweet in the morning, fruits in daytime and none of these in the evening.

2. Learn how to respect your body and stop putting “garbage” food in it on a daily basis

Here I mean the food and drinks, which are obviously harmful for your body: french fries, chips, Coca-Cola etc.
Apart from this you can always substitute them with healthier choices such as you can buy a sandwich with whole grain bread instead of a burger in McDonalds or fresh juice instead of Pepsi. It is rather an opportunity to eat healthier food, not a limitation.

3. Drink a lot of water but not with food

Try to drink at least a glass of water every day when you wake up and try to consume at least 2 liters every day. By the way many people forget to drink water during work and it causes a huge stress for body. Remember to drink water as it hydrates the whole body and improves digestion. And if you feel like you keep forgetting, you can download application, which will remind you to do it.

Just a little note: Try not to drink water during your meal. Do it 30 minutes before or after.

4. Don’t weigh yourself every day

Just relax. Your weight definitely will not change within a day, but checking it every day may cause disappointment and desire to find positive emotions by eating comfort foods that are usually high in calorie.

5. Try to follow intuitive eating

I noticed many times that sometimes I keep eating food even if I am not hungry. Or sometimes I am eating something absolutely not delicious just to fill my stomach with food.
That’s why I would advise you to ask yourself questions before eating food:
“Am I really hungry?”
“Which food would I like to eat?”
“How much food would be enough for me?”

6. Even if you don’t have time for sport, try walking every day

Doing sport is essential part of being fit, but if sometimes after your work you feel too tired or not in a mood, you can always choose walking as an option. Walking for extra 30 minutes or one hour actually helps to refresh mind, feel more calm and peaceful after a stressful day.

Bulletproof Coffee

Trends have a pulling power making you feel like that’s the next best thing to upgrade your life. But always verify as this may not always be true. While bulletproof coffee is all the rage now it is not entirely a new thing. Having indian roots it was very common for our great grand dads and the like to add some ghee into their coffee / tea. I’m told it is for energy giving purposes and also to ensure you’re loaded with good fats. Apparently adding Ghee into your coffee / tea it has its roots in Ayurveda.

I normally make mine at home using Davidoff coffee, adding a teaspoon of Ghee into an already small cup. I use it as an addition to my breakfast as it gives me energy to keep me going through the day. Without coffee in general I feel like a zombie, I’m sure a lot of you can relate. As per the internet there is a practice of replacing your breakfast with a super-sized one loaded with Ghee and coconut oil as this suppresses your hunger and results in weight loss. I stick to a smaller portion as I don’t really follow any diet and want to get in the other nutrients that my body needs as well.

Do a lot of research before you get into this type of coffee as a daily habit as you need to ensure that it completely suits you and doesn’t harm your body in any way. For instance, if your fat / oil intake is already too high in your overall diet, when you add bullet coffee this may lead to weight gain.

People benefit from the point of weight loss, increased focus and energy levels. I can definitely say that on days I would consume this at 6 am my 1.5 hour drive to work would feel much better. I was more focused and energised during a long drive to work in Abu Dhabi. I’m not a scientist or a doctor this is just my personal experience.

Bulletproof Coffee at Wild & the Moon

If you’re skeptical or unsure just try it at a local coffee shop. Wild and The Moon in Dubai does some really great bulletproof coffee. It’s made with coconut oil, grass-fed ghee and good old coffee. It’s a large portion though so you may have to substitute a 3 egg omelette or something equivalently filling with a small savoury muffin or fruits along with it.

My version of bulletproof coffee

Have you tried this? What was your experience? Do you have a different technique? I would love to know more…Until next post..

Fruitarian for 60 Days Challenge, Diet 80/10/10

After watching many videos about fruitarians and listening wonderfull book Diet 80/10/10 by Dr.Douglas N. Graham, I decided to make a little challenge for myself of trying it just for 60 Days. I am starting on 1st February 2018 and finishing around 1-7 April, I will see how I feel in case I will want to get back to regular diet earlier or finish it in the day when our Russian Orthodox fasting is over 7 April 2018. Many people say about miracles that happen to them when they become fruitarians from the health, business and other aspects of life so what the … I am also trying it. I believe in miracles so I don’t mind if they happen to me just by eating lovely fruits.

Besides, the hope that fruitarian diet will help me to forward my business ideas, lift my spirit to the next level and give some superpower, I also have two, dawn to earth, reasons for doing this 60 Days Challenge.

First, is to make myself more healthy, boost metabolism and get millions of amazing micronutrients/vitamisn/minerals into my body. The second reason, I want to lose 10 kg. I love my body and I am already quite fit wearing S/M size, but getting Victoria’s Secret supermodel body wouldn’t hurt. With my healthy diet right now my weight doesn’t move in any direction which is great especially if I already would have my target body weight and shape. Plus, I am the healthiest person I know; therefore, what I eat in general is quite good. However, I have a little addiction to popcorn, ice cream and a couple of others sweets. So we will see if this habit would change after 60 days and if I get my dream body.

There will be daily updates about my journey on my Instagram page @yanallure.

Here is the link to buy this wonderful book. It made a huge difference in my life and hope it will also add value to your wellbeing.

My 3 Favorite Restaurants in London for French Toast

French Toast is one of my favorite breakfast of all times especially if I am in London or Dubai. In Russia, I don’t usually order them because we have other fun options as pancakes and cottage cheese dishes. But during my last trip to London, I had a very important mission to fulfill, to find the best french toast in town.  Of course, there are so many restaurants and I didn’t have a chance to try all of them. Nevertheless, I was lucky enough to find a couple of great ones. Hope it will be a useful little guide for those who are also in love with this delicious breakfast.

  1. Duck & Waffle

I know people supposed to come for Duck&Waffle dish to this restaurant but honestly, I think the best dish on the menu, it’s a French Toast. Although they call it differently, TORREJAS and recommend to share it. If I go there again, I skip the main and order just this with a cup of coffee or tea plus I’m going to share my French Toast with nobody. Don’t get me wrong, the other things I tried were good but French Toast there is something really amazing.

  • Name – on the menu TORREJAS (Serves Two)
  • Price £16 (to share the price is great but not the dessert)

      2. Four Seasons on Park Lane

I discovered this dish at the Four Season actually by pure luck. I was sitting in the hotel lobby with a friend of mine and having tea, then I felt for something sweet but nothing was appealing to me on the menu. Then talking to a waitress she asked me, What usually do you like to eat for sweets? As a joke, I answered a French Toast. She said we can make it, you are in a 5-star hotel, the no answer doesn’t exist here. So they made a French Toast just for me and honestly it was one of the best ever. Definitely coming back on my next trip.

  • Name – French Toast, it is off the menu but just ask for it
  • Price £14 (not sure exactly because I paid together with a tea £17)

      3. Aubaine

My all time favorite restaurant for breakfasts and brunches is Aubaine. Living in Dubai, I used to go there quite often. So to keep up with a tradition I decided to try it in London as well. They always do excellent French Toast although lately they try to modify and make it more interesting as French Toast Croissant with banana and bacon or French Toast Croissant with mix berries. Do not order these modifications, I personally didn’t like it. Just ask them to do off the menu traditional way with berries and maple syrup.

  • Name – French Toast ask for classic one
  • Price – £11.5

Let me know if you also a French Toast fun and if you know other great places to try it. I also learn from you.

Terme di Montecatini Health Retreat, Italy

One of the best trips that I have ever done was to a small village in Tuscany, Montecatini. I came there with my best friend to become more beautiful, skinny and healthy. If fact, among Russian and Ukranian community there is a trend to go to Thermal Waters for health retreat. We heard lots of amazing stories about the water in Montecatini so were desperate to try it for ourselves. The first day of our trip we went to Terme di Montecatini where we got a proper prescription from a doctor on how to drink this water. We decided to have a full course for 6 days but it is allowed to even buy it for a day. It depends on your personal tolerance to such treatments. The prescription can be done in any language, for some reason doctor gave us Russian one.

  1. 250 ml of Regina warm, drink in 3 min while walking
  2. 250 ml of Regina mixed, drink in 5 min while walking
  3. Wait 5 minutes
  4. 500 ml of Tettuccio room temperature, drink in 20 min while walking
  5. After 20 min breakfast, starting with warm tea or warm coffee with milk
  6. At 4 or 5 pm, I could also have o.5 l of Rinfresco for 40 min while sitting

Every day we had to take Regina and Tettuccio on empty stomach between 8:30-12:00. The taste of them was a little salty expessially, Regina. They also had Leopoldina water which wasn’t prescribed to us but we tried a little just for fun. Honestly speaking, it smelled like a sewage, really bad. The others were much easier to swallow. Morning waters we had to drink while walking so we visited each corner of a park around. Really beautiful place, I could call it Tuscan paradise.

Morning waters we had to drink while walking so we visited each corner of a park around. Really beautiful place, I could call it Tuscan paradise. The architecture of Terme di Montecatini is just magnificent not to talk about nature. Plus they play lovely live music every morning. The place reminded me of one scene in the movie The Duchess. In fact, I really felt myself like a duchess there, I bet many important and royal people were coming to this place for many years.

So the most intresting part of this health reatreat, the results. Does it or it doesn’t work? Frankly speaking, I haven’t loose any weight. Nevertheless, I guess because I was eating nonstop all italian delicious food and all gelatos of Tuscany. But my skin became magicly clear and more beautiful. After a month, I really feel that the water cleaned some of the toxins from my body. Taking into cosidereation that I was going to cosmetolagist for many months and couldn’t solve some skin problem, I consider Montecatini water really helped.

Last but not least, the cost of this lovely treatment was around € 100  for 6 days including doctor consultation. Moreover, you can rent a glass for € 2 which is refundable once you give the glass back. At the end of the course, I also bought face cream for skin balance made with this magical water so hopefully, soon I will do a review on it.

Wine Tasting at Caudal, Moscow

I always wanted to be a wine expert or at least understand the differents between them. Once, I even tried to look for some courses on the internet but I found only something for barmen which were way too expensive for my little interest to be a good wine shopper. Luckily, a friend of mine invited me at Caudal shop for wine testing. It was a small class between four friends with two bottles of wine. In this setting, an expert of Caudal store gave us lots of information about wines and taught us how to distinguish differences between them.

That evening we were talking about and tasting white wines, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. For me it was such an interesting experience as I am really into red wines. So I got to know the sides of wines I never tasted. I guess if it is chosen well both white and red can be quite pleasant. The most interesting fact I learned that all wines are actually white from a very beginning. The step on which wine becomes red it is when skin and seeds of grapes been processed and added to the wine. Therefore, an end product can have different shades of red and yellowish. Our first wine, Sauvignon Blanc was with apple notes more fruity and yellowish compared to Riesling. Riesling had a stronger smell, some people refer to it sometime as the petrol smell or other unpleasant scenes. Nevertheless, both were excellent and change their flavors with each sip. Here are few tips on what to pay attention when tasting the wine,

  • take the glass and look at the color of the wine, it has to be clear with either ruby color or canary shades
  • then smell the wine, pay attention on notes you feel
  • take a sip but don’t swallow, move the wine around your mouth for a couple of seconds

This will help you to learn more about wines and its differences while your drinking this wonderfully mysterious beverage. Last but not least, at the end of this fun experience we got each a membership card at Caudal shop with 8 free wine tasting. I guess with such membership I would definitely become an expert on the subject.

FUME Restaurant, Dubai

img_8021FUME is one of the most popular restaurants in Dubai. There you can find plenty of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  For any taste and diet there is a solution, plus the chef can tailor some of the dishes to your taste. I have been in FUME for around 6 times, two in the downtown branch and four in Pier 7, Dubai Marina. It is not a Michelin starred food experience, rather a great place to gather with friends. My favorite menu there is for breakfast as it offers great healthy choices. However, I know many people love to come there after work to get a glass of wine or beer. For a lunch, I personally have a mixed feeling about the food. Some dishes I like and some I wouldn’t order it again. But in general, I am super picky with the food and also, my Russian origin can play some role in my food preferences.

Regarding the service, I also have a comment. One time in FUME Pier 7 I was treated rather rude than polite by some British lady when I wanted to sit at a specific table. The restaurant was almost empty and she was trying to give the worst table ever. Maybe that lady just had a bad day, after all we all have such days but with such experience, I didn’t want to go there for many months. So I hope it was an exception rather than their daily way of dealing with customers.  Of course, if you come as a press you will be treated excellent everywhere, that is why I like to come as a simple customer to see a true quality of food and service.

Moving on, the interior there is quite nice and different. The place has many modern details, true character and lots of day light. Aw… almost forgot to mention about gorgeous view of the yacht bay and lovely water channel. In conclusion, FUME restaurant is a great simple place to come with a big group of friends and have some fun. If you tried this restaurant already, let me know about your experiences, I would love to know your opinion about it.

  • Location – Fume Pier 7 & Downtown Dubai
  • Cuisine – British
  • Food quality – great for breakfast and snacks, the rest was nothing special
  • Food Presentation – simple food with little decorations
  • Service – average, sometimes excellent sometimes rude
  • Ambiance – nice and cozy place
  • Parking – very convenient and easy
  • Price – $$$
  • Overall Experience – ★★★★☆

Tea Plantation Tour, Mauritius

Mauritius is a wonderful country which offers many fun activities. During my first trip, I tried to visit as much as possible and one of the tours I took, was to the Tea Plantation. I went with As-Siyaaha Tour Operator and combine the visit with a couple of others side seeing activities. With this company, you can get a driver for the whole day and tailor the tour according to your own interests. In fact, they will recommend the best places to see. The landscape is beautiful in Mauritius, on the way to the plantation, I passed lake with the sweet water, temple and many beautiful parks. It is located on top of the mountain which touches the clouds; therefore, it rains quite often.

The plantation is surrounded by forest/jungle with beautiful and rare trees. To visit the place, there were different ticket packages. For example, the official rates were rs 500 for  factory tour+museum+tea tasting, rs 250 for a museum+tea tasting, and to just have a tea tasting rs 170. I took the second option which includes museum and tea tasting. To be honest, the museum was very small and boring. The funny thing, there were a group and one employee approached me and asked which language do I speak? I said, English. So he took me with a group to the factory by mistake, thinking I paid for the full package. So I glanced at this factory but can’t say it would be worth to pay money for it. It just machines everywhere, processing tea step by step which you can see even from outside.

Then my driver took me up on the heel where the tea tasting was actually happening. It was like 5 min drive from the factory. There were 11 different kinds of Bois-Cheri tea. I also ordered a waffle with honey and vanilla ice cream. It was so relaxing and enjoyable tour. In fact, I am a big fan of fine teas so for me it was an experience. Also, the rain made me feel so cozy with this big selection of nice Mauritian teas. Last but not least, there is a great seafood restaurant in the same building. I didn’t try it but it looked amazing and it is definitely on my list for the next trip to Mauritius.

  • Tour – Tea Plantation Visit with Tea Tasting
  • Location – South
  • Tour Operator – As-Siyaaha Tour Operator
  • Experience – wonderful time and relaxation
  • Duration – 1-2 hrs.
  • Price – rs 500 the full package with As-Siyaaha Tour, and rs 170 just tea tasting dropping by or combining with other side seeing tours
  • Tour Rating (0-5) – 5 for tea tasting only

Senara Grilled Seafood on the Island

Last week I discovered a wonderful restaurant Senara which is located in the Yacht Bay on Palm Jumeirah. Great place to have dinner with a group of friends or a date with a beloved one. The menu mainly contains seafood choices so it is a perfect place for me. In fact, this my favorite type of food. For a starter, I tried shrimps avocado salad, lobster roll, and smoked salmon. For the main course, I ordered seafood platter to share with half lobster, oysters, shrimps and grilled veggies on a side. All these dishes were super delicious and grilled in a perfect way. After the food, I also took a coffee with two desserts, one sticky pudding, and the other banoffee. The photos of each dish you can see below. I definitely recommend trying this amazing place, especially if you like grilled seafood. Personally, I think the location and food there are just fantastic.

  • Location – Palm Jumeirah, Palm Views West (free convenient parking)
  • Cuisine – Seafood
  • Food quality – everything I tried was extra fresh and grilled in an excellent way
  • Food Presentation – very nice with a lot of charm
  • Welcome – general greetings, bread basket
  • Service – excellent
  • Ambiance – super cozy with modern interior
  • Price – $$$$ (almost like any fine dining restaurant), our bill was 750 AED
  • Overall Experience – ★★★★★

Laser Peeling Review

A week ago I tried laser peeling for my face, Ultra Peel and would like to share my experience. I did it in EuroMed Clinic which was opened recently in Dubai on Jumeirah Rd. This clinic is super clean and has the most sophisticated equipment in the beauty industry. Plus, they have one of the best cosmetologists, Rebecca Treston. So I was very confident that it is the right place to try something new for my face. When I entered, I saw lovely interior and cozy ambiance. I was asked to fill some documents regarding my medical history as well as my cosmetologist, Rebecca asked about my skin concerns. After our consultation, she recommended light peeling, explained healing process and what I can achieve with this treatment.

The procedure takes just 10-20 minutes and it is not painful (from 0 to 10 pain level), I would give 1-2. You will feel mainly tingling and a little burning on your face. But as I said is the least painful cosmetic procedure ladies go for.

After peeling is over, cosmetologist put some healing cream. Then I was asked to go to another room for calming face mask which took 10 minutes more. During it, I was feeling that my face is actually burning. The whole experience identical to a mild sunburn.

In fact, the first day after laser peeling, it is the most painful time. Pain level for me was 3, as I said identical experience with a sunburn. The skin is extremely sensitive so be prepared that you will not be able to put any face cream neither foundation for sure. I tried 5 different creams but once I apply my face was on fire so I had to remove it same second. The only product I could put is 100% pure Argan Oil. So my personal recommendation first day, forget about your beauty products just apply some light and pure face oils.

Day 1.  Right after peeling, ready to go home.

Day 1. Getting more pink, 1 hr. later

After 2 hours the pink look went away but then in the evening I felted again. Burning sensation was on and off the whole day. During Day 2 my face looked nice but felt very tight and dry.

The next three days (Day 3, 4, 5), my skin was peeling a lot so it was impossible to apply foundation. Almost like a snake losing its skin. So be prepared not to put any makeup during those days at least for a week after you did laser peeling. However, my skin looked quite good even without any foundation. I was going to the events but no one noticed anything. If you look at the person from a normal distance, skin looks fresh and even.

Day 3. Lots of dead skin on the surface.

Then after the skin fully recovered, my face looked even, blemishes disappeared and pores became much smaller. I absolutely love the result and would love to do this procedure at least once a year in between my semi facials with the massage. In fact, laser treatments can solve many skin issues and make your face look like from a Vogue cover page. The most important are to find the right cosmetologist and a good clinic. If you live in Dubai, EuroMed Clinic is great for such serious treatments. Besides, they have many others services.

  • Name – Euromed Clinic
  • Location – Jumeirah Beach Road Umm Suqeim 1 – Villa 611
  • Treatment – Ultra Peel
  • Welcome – nice greetings and care
  • Service -excellent service, exceeded my expectations
  • Ambiance –  very nice and cozy
  • Price – $$$
  • Overall Experience – ★★★★★

Solo Tre Spa, Media City Dubai

I got invited to Solo Tre Spa to try one of their treatments. After checking company website, I thought it would be a nice experience and agreed to come to review it. On Solo Tre Spa website everything looked glamorous and treatments sounded very appealing, I wanted to do all of them. However since I could choose only one, I decided to do a massage. Plus it has been on my list for a couple of weeks. Usually, I like to go to 5-start hotel’s spas because of their relaxing ambience. But since I was invited to a free treatment, I thought it would be a great experience as well.

The spa located in Media City, Dubai so it was 25 min drive from my place (Downtown Dubai). They have a free valet parking for the spa clients so it is very convenient, taking into consideration how hard to find free parking in that area. From the outside it looked also great but after I entered my spa mood fade away. First of all, everyone was confused about my appointment. Second, I felt myself clearly in the salon, not spa. I guess the name is a bit misleading. As most of the salon, they have different services for hair, nails, massage and facials.

To be honest, I have a mixed filling about the whole thing. I loved the massage and my therapist was excellent. Her name is Katte and she is originally from Thailand. She knows great Thai massage techniques and I got an amazing massage. Also, bed was comfortable to lay during the treatment. But the ambience around was not that great. All doors were making old door noise, the room has to be fully repainted and I could hear people talking outside. Besides, their area for nails doesn’t have proper ventilation so it smells a lot of nail gel and acrylic powder. They were doing renovation at the time I came and hopefully, they will fix all the flows soon. So far, it is not a weekend getaway spa, more like a quick fix salon next to an office. Although I believe soon it will be much nicer.

  • Name – Solo Tre Spa
  • Location – Media City, Dubai next to Radisson Blu
  • Treatment – Solo Tre Spa special massage
  • Welcome – they were confused about my appointment at first
  • Service – great service, nice massage, friendly employees
  • Ambience – very simple, super basic, not luxury at all
  • Price – 270 AED for 60 min
  • Overall Experience – ★★★☆☆

Collectable Art Dubai 2016

Art Dubai is one of the biggest art event in the Middle East and Africa. Moreover, it has been recognized as one of the most globalized meeting point in the art world during the last 10 years. This year it took place on 15-19 of March 2016 at Madinat Jumeirah. For three days of this wonderful exhibition, guests could visit three huge halls full of artworks. In fact, around 90 galleries are participating in this exhibition every year and most of the pieces are for sale which is great for art collectors.

I received two VIP invitations from Mashreq Bank which actually made me go there for the first time. I am not much into art but I certainly appreciate and get inspired by it. The whole venue was quite amazing, in the majority of corners, people could talk directly with painters/owners of masterpieces around. The creativity of many went beyond my personal imagination. I was truly surprised by the size of the venue, I thought I will be done in 2 hrs but in reality, even three days wouldn’t be enough to see everything. However, I could attend only last day due to my travel to Moscow.

After big art inspiration around, I and my friend went to VIP lounge to discuss our favorite pieces and have a cup of coffee. Even in the lounge had an artistic design with beautiful colors combination.

For people working in the art industry, it is a mast to attend this event. Even me working in fashion I found it quite entertaining and useful. In conclusion, Art Dubai is a great venue, hope to attend it next year as well.
